This training provided creatives with a practical understanding of copyright law and its application to creative work. Participants learned what copyright is, the types of works protected under copyright, including literary, musical, artistic, dramatic, audiovisual works, software, and architectural designs, and the distinction between ideas and protected expressions.
The session covered ownership of copyright, economic and moral rights, copyright duration, registration procedures, and the benefits of registering creative works. Participants also explored licensing and assignment of rights, commissioned works, employment-related ownership, infringement remedies, enforcement mechanisms, and the role of collective management organizations (CMOs) in royalty collection and distribution. Through practical case studies, creatives gained knowledge on how to protect, commercialize, and enforce their intellectual property rights.
