The Kalasha Film and TV awards are accolades presented by the Kenya Film Commission. Inaugrated in 2010, they are a mark of achievement, of quality and recognition by the industry of stellar production and performances. In 2018, there was a special focus on animation.

Brian Tarus, a student at the Technical University of Kenya and currently working with SDL Studios and Twaweza Communications, created a 3D animated film called “Isolated”. “ISOLATED” is a short thriller film that centers around a patient, Mosa, who wakes up to find the hospital that he is admitted to has been attacked and patients murdered by a mysterious creature.

We had the pleasure of interviewing him and talking about his experience making the film, being nominated for and winning the Kalasha award.

Here is the award winning animation: Isolated. Warning, it contains some graphic images.
